About me

A bit about me and my company

I first got into Computers when I had my first ZX81 back in the 80’s, then a commodore 64k that I used to hack the games to enable me to get infinite lives!
I learned how to program on an Amstrad CPC464 in basic, got a book and then taught myself, spending hours and hours just to get a circle to print on the screen to me it was fantastic and exciting that I had done that! I love the way I am able to interact with the Computer and get it to do what I want it to.
In my jobs I was a VBA programmer working on business reviews working out KPI’s and coming up with the solutions that managers can use to manage performance and efficiency. I went on to be a certified Microsoft master enabling me to teach Microsoft products.
The transition to PHP from Visual Basic was fairly easy, (I still get confused after programming in PHP for a while then switch back to VBA though!)
I started up my first company for web development in 2001, making HTML sites, and ACCESS database sites for clients.
I got into osCommerce in 2003, where I came across it when looking for an online merchant for a client I loved its ease of use and inbuilt functionality, plus of course the very wide range of free add ons, I played around with it for years learning the code as well as installing for clients and changing the layout, adding custom functionality etc..
Over the years I have made hundreds of stores, in all different styles giving the customer what they want always.

The history of linuxuk website.
Before I took the name over it was owned by Linux guru Kevin Bacon, who used it as an information portal for all things Linux related.
When I took it over it was to set up an online store selling Linux distributions that I placed onto a USB flash drive and made it bootable, running two types, Live … where the Linux booted from the USB and ran under a Live environment not saving any changes, and a Live version that actually saved changes, internet favourites, history, documents … mostly anything! It was very very good.
Systems I used where Knoppix, Xandros, Ubuntu, Slax ware, PCLinux OS, MIniMe, I even got Linspire and Freespire to work (which I like getting vegetables to talk to each other even when they don’t want to).
The time involved in making a stick and the increasing cost of the USB’s forced me to rethink, I had www.opensourcecommerce.net already in action for my web sites so I decided to port it to this URL.

If you think i am a steriotypical computer geek think again, i am 6'1" a karate black belt, bike riding, family loving individual who loves his family and Job.

Thats a bit about me, you can see i have always worked with computers and this places me in a very good position to be able to say that yes, i can make your dream site a reality!

I am a regular on the osCommrce forums, and have contributed both financially and with contributions.
